Group singing is one of the things in life where feeling better is pretty much guaranteed. Singing benefits us socially, emotionally, and physically, and for those with a movement disorder, the benefits can be even more profound.
Singing together helps decrease inflammation, increase vocal strength, breathing, swallowing control, and general well-being, and has even been shown to increase dopamine levels.
Participating in rhythmic activities improves mood, gait, and gives a unique and deep appreciation for the heartbeat of music. Prominent movement disorder neurologists recommend rhythmic activities, particularly polyrhythms (two rhythms at once). These classes are designed to get you creating grooves and patterns that feel good and are deeply healing for body, mind, and spirit.
These classes were formed to give folks living with the disease an opportunity to come together to collectively reap these tremendous benefits.
